Texas passes kratom regulation bill

• After introducing plans for regulation this past spring, Texas legislation recently passed the Texas Kratom Consumer Health and Safety Protection Act to monitor the sale of kratom and protect users from dangerous products. 
• Under this Act, manufacturers must register their product and provide a certificate of analysis from a third party laboratory. This certificate states that the product is compliant with the law. These independent labs will only approve products once they’ve been tested to ensure they are pure kratom and contain no additives, as reported by KXAN-TV Austin. 
• Additionally, manufacturers must label their products with consumer instructions, ensuring that people know how to safely ingest the substance. 
• The Texas Kratom Consumer Health and Safety Protection Act will take effect on September 1st, 2023. 
• According to the AKA, there are now 11 US states that have passed protection acts for kratom consumers.
